This page outlines the procedure for reporting safeguarding concerns involving:
Children (under 18)
Young people
Vulnerable adults
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Any concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable adult must be taken seriously and reported appropriately.
2. What Is a Safeguarding Concern?
A safeguarding concern may include, but is not limited to:
Physical abuse
Emotional abuse
Sexual abuse
Neglect
Exploitation
Bullying or harassment
Inappropriate behaviour by leaders, volunteers, or participants
Concerns may arise from something you:
Witness directly
Are told by a child or vulnerable adult
Observe through behaviour or signs of distress
3. Immediate Danger
If a child or vulnerable adult is in immediate danger, contact emergency services immediately.

After contacting emergency services, inform ETS Ministries leadership as soon as possible.
4. Reporting a Concern
If you have a safeguarding concern related to ETS Ministries activities, you should report it as soon as possible.

Your name and contact details
The nature of the concern
The name of the individual involved (if known)
Date, time, and location of the incident
Any relevant observations or information
Reports will be handled with care, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
5. Responding to a Disclosure
If a child or vulnerable adult tells you about abuse or a safeguarding concern:
Do:
Listen carefully
Stay calm
Reassure them they have done the right thing
Take the concern seriously
Record what was said as accurately as possible
Do not:
Promise confidentiality
Ask leading questions
Attempt to investigate the matter yourself
Always report the concern to the safeguarding contact as soon as possible.
6. Confidentiality
Safeguarding concerns will be treated confidentially and shared only with those who need to know in order to respond appropriately.
However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is a risk of harm or where legal authorities must be informed.
7. Evangelism and Outreach Safety
When participating in evangelism training or outreach organised by ETS Ministries:
Young participants must be supervised by responsible adults.
Outreach activities should take place in safe public environments.
Participants should work in pairs or groups where possible.
Leaders must prioritise the safety of all participants, especially minors.
8. False or Malicious Allegations
ETS Ministries UK takes safeguarding concerns seriously. Any allegation will be handled fairly and carefully.
Knowingly making false allegations may lead to appropriate disciplinary action.
9. Policy Review
This safeguarding procedure will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains effective and consistent with recognised safeguarding practices.
