ETS Ministries UK
1. Purpose
ETS Ministries UK provides evangelism training to equip Christians to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that is respectful, responsible, and safe.
These guidelines are intended to ensure that outreach activities conducted as part of ETS Ministries training are carried out with appropriate care for participants, members of the public, and especially children and vulnerable individuals.
2. Respectful Engagement with the Public
Participants should conduct themselves in a way that reflects the love, grace, and humility of Christ.
During outreach activities, participants must:
Treat every person with dignity and respect.
Respect an individual’s right to decline conversation.
Avoid confrontational or argumentative behaviour.
Speak kindly and respectfully at all times.
Avoid causing disruption to public spaces, businesses, or events.
Our goal is to communicate the Gospel in a way that is gracious, thoughtful, and considerate of others.
3. Compliance with Laws and Local Regulations
Participants must comply with all relevant laws and local regulations when engaging in outreach activities.
This includes:
Respecting local council rules regarding public spaces.
Avoiding obstruction of walkways or entrances.
Respecting private property.
Following instructions from event organisers or local authorities if applicable.
Participants should also follow any guidance provided by ETS Ministries leaders regarding approved outreach locations.
4. Working in Teams
For safety and accountability, outreach should normally be conducted in pairs or small groups.
Participants should:
Remain within the designated outreach area.
Maintain awareness of other team members.
Inform a team leader before leaving the outreach area.
Keep communication open with the outreach coordinator.
Participants should not conduct organised outreach alone during ETS Ministries training events.
5. Personal Safety
Participants should prioritise personal safety during outreach activities.
Participants are encouraged to:
Stay in public, well-lit areas.
Be aware of their surroundings.
Withdraw from conversations that become hostile or unsafe.
Seek assistance from team leaders if they feel uncomfortable.
Avoid engaging with individuals who appear intoxicated, aggressive, or threatening.
No participant should feel pressured to continue a conversation that feels unsafe.
6. Safety of Children and Young People
ETS Ministries UK is committed to safeguarding children and young people.
When participants under the age of 18 are involved:
Parental or guardian consent must be obtained.
Young participants must be supervised by responsible adults.
Minors should not conduct outreach activities alone.
Safeguarding policies must be followed at all times.
Young people should remain with their assigned group or leader during outreach activities.
7. Appropriate Conduct
Participants representing ETS Ministries should act in a manner that reflects positively on the ministry.
Participants should not:
Use offensive or abusive language.
Harass individuals who decline conversation.
Make statements that misrepresent ETS Ministries.
Engage in political arguments while representing the ministry.
All outreach should demonstrate Christ-like love, humility, and wisdom.
8. Handling Difficult Situations
If a conversation becomes tense or uncomfortable, participants should:
Remain calm and respectful.
Politely end the conversation if necessary.
Move to a different area if appropriate.
Inform a team leader if the situation escalates.
Participants should avoid escalating disagreements.
9. Safeguarding and Reporting Concerns
If any safeguarding concern arises during outreach activities, it should be reported immediately to an ETS Ministries leader.
This may include:
Concerns involving children or vulnerable adults
Inappropriate behaviour
Situations where someone appears at risk of harm
All safeguarding concerns should be handled according to the ETS Ministries Safeguarding Reporting Procedure.
10. Responsibility of Participants
Participants are responsible for their behaviour during outreach activities.
By participating in ETS Ministries outreach training, individuals agree to follow these safety guidelines and the ministry’s Code of Conduct.
ETS Ministries UK reserves the right to withdraw participation from individuals who fail to follow these guidelines.
