ETS were invited to equip four churches who needed help with their discipleship. There is indeed something unique and amazing about crossing borders and stepping onto another country’s soil. Firstly, everything is different; the main language, culture, look and feel of the place, let alone, the food. But most importantly, especially in poorer nations, the indigenous people have a deeper hunger and expectancy of what our God is going to do through visitors from abroad.
We arrived in Durban to be greeted by the Pastors of Jesus House Ministries, who took us to our hotel and gave us a great meal. After a good night’s sleep, we were taken to their Church, where we joined them in worship before starting our teaching seminar on “how to disciple a new believer”
Both Tim and Tope looked at various aspects of discipleship, before asking the participants to find a partner and start discipling one-to-one. After one topic had been discussed, we then asked them to switch places to see what it is like to be discipled and for the other person to know how to disciple a new believer.
The seminar took most of the rest of the day and we broke for a meal. After this we had questions and answers, with feedback forms which were very positive. The Pastor was really excited about the future of his church in terms of both spiritual and numerical growth. ETS Ministries, hope to partner with Jesus House Ministries to form a long-term relationship, to build the Kingdom and make disciples of all Nations.
